Task 1: The Man
Vincent Van Gogh
A great Dutch post-impressionist artist who lived between 1853 and 1890. He was recognized only after his death at the age of 37. Some of his famous paintings include Starry Night, the Sunflowers, the Potato Eaters, Cornfield and Cypresses, the Bedroom at Arles. He painted a variety of pictures in oils, of people- portraits, scenery, flowers, and some more. Gogh was not only famous for his paintings, but also for his tortured life. What influenced Vincent Van Gogh's art was his emotion. His life was pretty miserable. He lacked self confidence and he also had two unstable, unhappy romances. He allows us to see the world in a more free and unstructered way.

Task 2: Loving Vincent
"The truth is, we cannot speak other than by our paintings." This tagline was written by Vincent Van Gogh in a letter the week before his death. This film talks about Vincent, the tortured artist's life. The production team of this film brought some of his most inspirational paintings to life to tell to the audience about the artist's miserable life. This film was initially released on June 12th, 2017. The story begun a year after Van Gogh died.
They painted over 65,000 frames on over 1,000 canvases just to make this film. The production team also shot the film with actors, and literally painted over it Frame by Frame. They took 4 years to develop that technique and it took them over 2 years with a team of over 100 painters working at their studios to finish up the film. These painters mostly came from countries like Poland and Greece. One of their production members said that, "The reason we made the film is not because we want to be the first, or that we want to set any records, it is because we believe that you cannot truly tell Vincent’s story without his paintings, so we needed to bring his paintings to life."
They believed that Vincent Van Gogh's life was a story worth sharing to the whole world. The entire script of this film was shot in live action in 14 days according to cinematographer Tristan Oliver. The shooting occured at 3 Mills Studios in London. The main casts of this feature film include Douglas Booth, Helen McCrory, Chris O’Dowd, Saoirse Ronan and Aidan Turner.
The delivery of one of Van Gogh’s last letters to his brother Theo, after the painter’s death was the main focus of the film's plot. As remarkable as Vincent’s brilliant paintings are his passionate and ill-fated life and mysterious death.
Few paintings out of over 65,000 frames from the film are shown below.
